The Beautiful Uncut Hair Of Graves . . .

Ah, the boredom of a winter day. Whenever I enter boredom I love playing with my hair pulling and primping and this Christmas my sister got me this amazing new curling iron. Not having much to do today I finally has the chance to play around with it. I discovered that this curling iron is possibly the best I have ever had. It produces beautiful waves that I have been attempting to perfect forever! Below I have added pictures of the finished product and what I items I used to complete this look. If you too want to try out this hairstyle I have put together a youtube video that you can check out here or on my channel! Thanks All!

The Pursuit Of Beauty . . .

So as many of you may know from reading my blog. I am totally and absolutely in LOVE with the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. But it also provides girls like myself with excitement and also some sort of hopefulness that maybe one day we will all be that beautiful.

Bun. . . Anyone?

I have always loved the look of a bun. But lately my bunning, has been flat and floppy. I recently cut my hair shorter and found that my buns were not as full as I wanted them to be and they often fell to the side. Stumbling on StumbleUpon one night I came across something magical! The sock bun! Many of you may have heard about this already but for those who haven't... The sock bun is a big beautiful bun that uses a rolled up sock as a foundation! It is so easy and the results are awesome! If you are a fan of the Kourtney Kardashian bun this is a fast and easy way to create it without fussing over your hair!

MATERIALS: All you need is a sock (the longer and thicker; the better!), an elastic, and scissors!

DIRECTIONS:
Secure hair on top or back of the head, using a ponytail.
Pull hair through the doughnut/rolled sock.
Roll the hair through the doughnut/rolled sock. OR using pins arrange hair around the foundation until it is completely covered and you are satisfied!

Below I have added my own video on how I like to do my sock bun. It is harder to do with layered hair/shorter hair like mine so keep that in mind. I tend to like the messy look as you can tell. But if you want a more clean slicked back look, straightening your hair is helpful. Hope you like!

If you want more of an explanation of the sock bun check out the link below. The video also demonstrates how sock buns can create beautiful, no heat curls! !

Have fun!!

Behind The Fringe Of A Whiskey High . . .

I just wanted to take the time to give a huge shout out and a happy birthday to one of the loves of my life Jenna Marie Cassidy. She is and forever will be one of my closest friends and I sincerely hope that this birthday is one that she will always remember.

Growing up I feel like I had a lot of friends coming and going. It seemed like every other month I had a new "best friend". I have recently come to the conclusion that I used that term way to liberally. It not that these individuals were bad people by any means but with things and time people change and grow apart. Realizing this as I got older I went into every friendship believing that soon that "honeymoon" phase would be over and we would both move on; maybe this was even a downfall to a lot of my friendships. So naturally when I started becoming closer with my now closest friends Michelle and Jenna I had the same hesitation and thought that this would be another temporary friendship. When Michelle went away to school and left Jenna and I in Orangeville, I thought that this was it. The end. I was happily mistaken. If anything when we were apart for that year it made our friendship stronger. And now the three of us are living in three different towns, attending different schools and I find that we are closer then ever.

I know that when I say that these two are my best friends I mean it, wholeheartedly. And when I think about the future I know 100% that we will always be close. We WILL be friends forever. So, I guess your stuck with me ladies.

Here's to a messy and happy birthday to one of the most beautiful individuals inside and out; Jenna "Tipper" Cassidy. Soon we will all be on a whiskey high and bohemian dancing.

Love you forever and always!

These Are A Few Of My FALL-vorite Things..

Ah, it's that time of the year again. Fall. My absolute favorite season here in Canada; colder weather and fallen leaves are what I live for and are the only reason why I can stand the horrifically long winters. I have been reading a lot of blogs and magazine's lately that have discussed fall fashions and beauty products. Being so passionate about fall, I decided to compile a list of things that I love about this season. Hope you enjoy and maybe try some of these things out for yourself...

Ah, Tim Horton's a commodity here for us Canadians. It is at this time of the year when they reveal their oh, so longed for pumpkin spice dounuts, timbits, and muffins. But best of all is their pumpkin spice teas! So yummy, warm and festive. A must try for us Canadians!

Expressionists by Gucci Westman for Revlon
Oh, how excited this line has got me!! I love glitter and sparkles and flash! And Expressionist by Gucci Westman for Revlon, is all about the flash. A truly awesome line of products and affordable!
Maybelline New York Limited Edition Blush in Ravishing Rouge
This colour titled, "Ravishing Rouge" by Maybelline New York is a limited addition and is perfect for this season. I absolutely love this color and it looks amazing on.

The Victoria Secret Fashion Show! I absolutly love this fashion show and it always airs during the fall! Watch it this year November 29th.

I am all about the bold lips. During the summer we are expected to wear lights, and coral colours but in the fall! We are free to experiment with all sorts of dark colours.

How to ward off those cold days? Three words. BIG, COMFY SWEATERS.

Leather Leggings. <3

I love the look of Urban Outfitters Turban Wrap. Time to keep those ears warm! :)

Thanksgiving....

And of course fallen leaves!!

Hope you enjoyed this post and enjoy the beautiful season of fall!!

Dark Underarms :( . . .

I think we have all been to that point in our lives when we look at our underarms and it looks like a black hole. And if your like me; no matter how much you scrub those underarms or shave they still end up looking dark. For the past month I have been scouring the Internet for the solution and I have come across a few that don't involve harmful lightening products or waxing (oww). Below are some homemade remedies (DIY, yah!) for this unsightly problem.

The first recommendation I found on a lot of sites was to use a buff puff on your armpits. This helps scrub away any left over deodorant that can build up over time, odour and possibly contribute to the darkness under your arms.

Baking soda paste:

Mix baking soda and water until you create a paste... Apply. Rinse off after 10-15 minutes.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

Apply Apply cider vinegar to a cotton ball and wipe over problem areas. No need to rinse!

Potato Juice:

Either blend the potato into a paste, or just cut open for all the juices and rub over problem areas!

Enjoy :)

Starry Night . . .

There is no denying I was inspired by the stars while creating this look and video. Being from Canada, there is nothing better then laying out watching the stars whether it be by a lake, in a field or in your backyard; on a clear night you can truly get lost in the stars. Anyways, I wanted to attempt and recreate the beautiful night sky's on my nails and I am pretty satisfied with the results!

I made a video to explain the process of creating this look and added a couple pictures. You can check it out below or at my YOUTUBE page:

Lets Face It . . .

Thanks to my friend Michelle who sent me this awesome e-mail with at home skin care treatments!! The following post is completely credited to her! Thanks Michelle!

For decades we have been trying to find the perfect skin care solution for ourselves. But at what cost? What lengths are we willing to go for? For that perfect Skin Care Product ? The cosmetic world is a billion dollar industry there are millions of companies that want you to buy their product because it works….No really it works…you can’t live without it….Well that product that you can’t live without is most likely filled with harsh chemicals that strip your skin of its natural moisture and oils and it probably has been tested on animals! Both are not cool and either way you look at it what good is this product doing? Honestly what are we doing to ourselves? We need to look at the natural organic effects rather than the science of a skin care product. Here are some simple yet effective NATURAL ingredients to renew your skin care routine and rejuvenate your mind body and soul. A simple change can be good. Try it!
Enjoy!
Green Tea Face Scrub
1 green tea bag- ¾ cup boiling water-2 Tbs. sugar-1 tsp. honey
Steep tea bag in boiling water for 2-4 minutes. Remove tea bag and cool. Place 1 Tbs. sugar in a bowl and add 1 Tbs. tea. Stir, then add another 1 Tbs. sugar. Stir again, adding honey. Spread the scrub over a clean face and massage in a gentle circular motion for 2 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.
Ocean Body Scrub
1 Tbs. powdered kelp- 2 cups sea salt or sugar-1/3 cup apple juice-2 Tbs. honey
Mix all ingredients in a bowl; spoon into a jar with a tight-fitting lid. In the shower, massage into clean, damp skin. Leave on for 5 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Peachy Keen Face Mask
1 ripe peach-1-2 Tbs. warm olive or almond oil
After removing the skin and pit, mash the peach in a bowl. Drizzle in oil and mix until it forms a spreadable paste. With a clean makeup brush, apply a thin layer of the mask over your face and relax for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.
Tea Tree Toner
¼ cup of distilled water-¼ cup witch hazel-1 tsp. tea tree oil
Pour all ingredients into a clean bottle with a tight fitting lid. Shake to combine. Apply to a clean face with a cotton pad.
Minty Hair Rinse

2 mint tea bags-½ cup of boiling water-2 Tbs. apple cider vinegar
Steep tea in boiling water for 2-4 minutes. Remove tea bags and cool. Stir in the vinegar and pour into a re-sealable bottle. After you shampoo, condition and rinse your hair, pour the mint rinse into hair and scalp. Massage in and style as usual without re-rinsing.

From The Kitchen, To Your Hair . . .

I am constantly looking for ways to avoid hair products that are full of chemicals and cause build up. Recently I came across a list of iteams that you can find in your kitchen that you can use in your hair! Yay! Not only are you avioding these chemicals and build up; you know what is actually being put in your hair and its cheap!

Baking Soda!

Baking Soda pretty much kicks ass. I mean it can be used in so many different ways from oudour, to teeth, to hair! Yes, hair. The truth is, Shampoo is an asshole. We use it and yes it temperarly cleans are hair but it also leaves us with horrible amounts of build up on our hair. Yuck! Yes, your hair may look shiny and health after using a specific shampoo but truth is, that is not your hair! It's a glossy coating and hardly does this shine last long and your hair gets dirty easier. So the solution, apart from buying extremly expensive organic shampoos; try this! Once a week add 3 Tbsp. of baking soda to 3 Cups of water. After shampooing rinse your hair and then pour the baking soda mix throughtout you hair and follow by conditioning. Once you have done this, you will be left with shiny and silky hair, and it really will feel brand new.

Eggs!
This one is really simple and is great for dry or brittle hair! Go ahead, whip up one or two eggs (depending on your volume of hair) and rub them into dry hair. Cover with a towel or shower cap and leave on 15 minutes before washing out. And please remember when you are washing the egg out that the water is not too hot! Unless you want cooked egg chuncks all throughout your hair! So again, NO hot water, instead cold water!

Molasses or Maple Syrup!

I have actually never heard of this one before! And when I read it I thought for sure that putting these ingredients in your hair would lead to a huge mess and it would be extremely sticky, but I was surprised! For anyone who has dry hair or just wants a boost this is for you and remember to use real maple syrup or malasses to help produce better results. Pour either of these things (you can dilute the molasses with water if it’s too thick to scrub in) on dry hair. Wrap with plastic wrap or cover with a good shower cap. Leave on for 20 minutes. Wash as you normally do. Also, did you know that ingesting Molasses daily can help clear up acne and streghten hair and nails. Interesting . . .

Apple Cidar Vinegar!

I have always heard great things about apple cidar vinegar and I was really impressed by the results! If you suffer from dandriff or just want beautiful hair this is for you! All you have to do is mix
1 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar to 2 cups of water and shake well. After shampooing and conditioning pour mixture throughout hair, after you can either leave your hair or give it one more rinse.

Olive Oil!

Olive oil is great for all hair types and is truly amazing! To moisturize and strengthen:  1/2 cup of olive oil in the microwave for 15 seconds (or heat on very low for a few minutes) – just until it’s warm enough to matter, but not so hot that it burns your skin. Apply to damp (not dripping!) hair. Wrap with plastic wrap or cover with a warm towel. Leave this on for 20 minutes to an hour, and then shampoo out as usual. To smooth and shine: Put a scant 1/2 tsp of olive oil in your palms and rub. Then apply to the top of your hair, moving downward.

And there it is! I hope you all try these and have awesome results!
